President’s Message
Statement from Ashleigh Omorogbe, MD
President, Washington, D.C. Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (DC ACEP)
As President of DC ACEP, I am honored to serve the dedicated emergency physicians who stand at the forefront of care for our nation’s capital. Our mission is to advocate powerfully for our physicians, our patients, and the future of emergency medicine.
We are committed to advancing policies that support the health and sustainability of our profession, while also standing firm in our responsibility to advocate for the patients and communities we serve, especially the most vulnerable. Access to high-quality, timely emergency care should not be a privilege – it is a right.
Central to our mission is collaboration. We will build partnerships across health systems, with community leaders, and within our local and national government to address the pressing issues facing our field. We will also foster a strong, supportive community among emergency physicians by providing opportunities for social connection, networking, and shared learning throughout the District.
Through advocacy, collaboration, and community, we will continue to lead with purpose, support one another, and drive meaningful change in the practice of emergency medicine in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Aisha T. Liferidge was born and raised in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was elected as President of her high school class and graduated with honors from Duke University with a bachelor of science degree in Biology, and minors in Chemistry and Spanish. In 1999, she began her medical training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine on a 4-year full scholarship. Dr. Liferidge then joined the ranks of the reputable emergency medicine residency program at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, Maryland in June 2003. Here, she sharpened her clinical acumen and was groomed for leadership in academics and organized medicine.
